How We Met

From Monessen to State College and Back Again

We first locked eyes at Monessen Middle School when Tyler was a new 7th grade attendee from Catholic School and Lacey was a brace-faced 6th grader. We were both awkward and had a typical middle school love story that included roller skating and holding hands and awkward pictures (that we still have to prove it!). Next, we both attended The Penn State University and Lacey clung to the only person she knew---Tyler. Tyler provided Lacey with all of his sophomore wisdom which included free alcohol (Sorry Moms) and car rides home for the weekend. We dated for a week or two and decided it was time to be friends again. Fast forward to 2016 and Tyler and Lacey were in the same place once again. We both "Swiped right" on Tinder to reconnect and Tyler invited himself for a night out with Lacey and her friends. After that, many dates ensued and the rest is history. We own a home together and share our first Furbaby, Bandit.

Our Engagement

Penn State Forever

It was Lacey's Dad's 50th birthday and Lacey's family decided to go to Penn State for a weekend of Penn State Tailgating and football. After many drinks and a Penn State WIN, we thought we would continue to take our family to all our old stomping grounds. Lacey's mom wanted pictures at the Lion Shrine. So we took pictures and then someone brought up going to see the Arboretum. Mind you, the whole weekend was a wash with rain and freezing temperatures AND we were hungover of course. For those of you that don't know what the Arboretum is, it is an outdoor garden. So, Lacey decided that they not go there because "it is freezing cold and there is nothing to see there this time of year." Tyler said, "It's your dad's birthday weekend, just do it for him." So, we went. Next thing you know, Tyler is on one knee and Bailey (Lacey's sister) is bawling and Lacey says yes! (not really, but I can't tell you what was actually said). We said Yes to forever at our favorite place in the world...so actually "Penn State Forever" has a new meaning to both of us.
