The Proposal
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Small-town Arkansas and big-city Chicago don't always seem like they'd make for a match. It was the same for Chasity and Reed. They each moved to Nashville to pursue their music dreams and ended up finding much more. It was August 2022, and Chasity and a mutual friend (shout-out Sami Jo) were playing a music festival in Gatlinburg. While traveling, they got to talking about boys. Chasity mentioned what her type was, and Sami immediately responded, "I think I have someone for you." Chas and Reed had a few run-ins with each other after that at friend's get togethers, etc. Chasity wouldn't have thought it would go where it did; she thought Reed was loud and talked A LOT. (ha!) However, Reed asked her to go with him to church one Sunday, and they talked for hours afterward. In December, they played a show together. In the days leading up to the show, they put in hours of work to practice. But the hours of practice continuously turned into hours of talking. So, Reed took a chance and asked Chasity on a date. They went on a date, and Reed was hooked. He told his family and friends back home that he'd found someone he was really excited about. Chasity, however, was wanting to take things a bit more slowly. Which takes us to January 2023. On their way to church, the couple got into a hit-and-run car accident that sent them spinning across multiple lanes of traffic on the interstate. Throughout the whole time of spinning, Reed's focus was on God and protecting/calming Chasity. That's when she knew. The rest, as they say, is history.
For 20 years, Reed's family traveled annually to Saddle Lake, Michigan to vacation. This was the place Reed caught his first fish, had his first kiss, and spent so many summers growing up and making memories. During summer 2023, right on their 6-month-aversary, Reed and Chasity made the trip north. A couple days into the trip, Chasity's family also came to Michigan. Before her family arrived, Reed asked her if she wanted to put on makeup (word of advice to any men reading this: probs not the thing to ask your girlfriend). She exclaimed, "No! I'm at the lake?!" A few hours later, the time arrived: This was the first time the parents were getting to meet! Everything was going great, and everyone was having so much fun. Reed told Chasity to wait outside while he went to get her her surprise present. She stood with her eyes closed until he began to lead her across the dock. When they reached the end, Chasity opened her eyes to a brand new Taylor guitar & guitar case. She was shocked! She had so many questions: "Where had Reed been hiding a whole guitar?" "How long had he had it?" "How did he keep it a secret?" But these questions were nothing compared to what was about to happen. Reed then took the opportunity to drop to one knee and ask Chasity to marry him. For once, Reed was speechless (see above story for why that's funny) except for the words, "Chasity Danielle Bailey, will you marry me?" “Shut up” isn’t always what you’d expect someone to respond with, but it’s Chasity. So you never know what you’ll get. She eventually managed to get a "yes" out, and their song played while some of the closest people in their lives got to watch. (&, yes, in swimwear and no makeup.) Now the time has come to tie the knot, and they’re both so excited for family and friends to come together to witness and celebrate their commitment before God and to each other!
We also just want to take a minute to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who has helped us on our wedding journey. Whether it was gifting us money or resources toward the wedding, providing guidance, helping plan, praying for us, or providing a service, we appreciate you so much.
