Chase and I met in a way that seems to be becoming more and more popular these days: on a dating app. I know, it's not the most romantic way to meet the future love of your life, but it was easier than waiting around for a Prince Charming to come along. We met on an app called Bumble. It's a pretty popular app with a twist. On most dating apps, the guy has to make the first move, but on Bumble, the guy can't respond to a match without the girl sending the first message. I had quite a few hit and miss matches where I sent something to the guy that I thought was a pretty good opening message (I even sent a Gordon Ramsey meme to one), but it seems that opinion was not shared. I came across Chase's profile a few weeks after having Bumble, and I instantly thought he was 😍. What do you say to a super hot guy that's way out of your league to make him talk to you? YIKES. Meme? Joke? Pick-up line? He mentioned on his profile that he had A LOT of animals, so I went with a casual approach and asked him about his animals. He messaged back! He told me about his pets, and we talked about our favorite animals and ended up just really hitting it off. Not too long after we started talking on Bumble, I totally pretended I couldn't always see when he messaged me on there and asked for his number. HE GAVE IT TO ME. Crazy, right? We ended up texting all the time. One thing led to another, and we decided to have our first meet up. I baked Chase cookies in hopes that my baking skills would save me if he didn't end up liking me in person. On the day of our meet up, I drove to Russellville to his apartment with cookies in tow. When I got there, he came and found me because I got super lost, and we went up to his place and played Mario Kart for hours and had a super awesome (but competitive) time. He even lit the candle I had picked out (via his multiple pictures asking me which I thought I'd like from his collection) for when I got there. I've been in love with him ever since.
