What is the dress code?

Answer

We'd love to see our family and friends get dressed up for our big day! Dress in your best semi- formal or cocktail attire. Please no jeans/denim and avoid shades of white/ivory and dark greens. Both the ceremony and reception will be held indoors.

What time should I arrive

Answer

Our ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00PM so we kindly request that you arrive plenty early to assure you don't miss anything. Venue doors will open at 2:30PM and we ask that people arrive no later than 2:55PM to ensure that you have enough time to park, sign the guest book, and find your seat. If you arrive after the ceremony has already started, you will not be seated and will have to wait until cocktail hour to enter.

Where is the ceremony and reception being held?

Answer

Both the ceremony AND reception are being held at Wilsons farmhouse and venue in Iowa City. Both are taking place in the same area so please be courteous to staff who may be moving tables and chairs around. With the wedding being in December, the ceremony will take place indoors.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We are having an unplugged ceremony, meaning that once the ceremony begins, we ask that all phones be put away and silenced. We want everyone to be fully present with us and for our photographer to be able to capture the best pictures and we will absolutely share those with you! Once cocktail hour begins everyone is welcome to take photos the rest of the night!

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony the wedding party and family will be taking photos around the venue for about an hour. Guests can enjoy cocktail hour with drinks and party mix while staff take care of switching the venue for the reception.

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate additional guests, we can only accommodate those formally invited on your invitation. Your invitation will be addressed as {Your Name} + {Guest} if a plus one has been given to you. You’re RSVP will also have a slot for a guest if one has been given to you, if you believe you were granted a guest and the RSVP does not allow you to enter one, please reach out to Chase or Michala for clarification.

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your little ones as much as you do! However, we have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event with the exception of immediate family. We encourage you to use this evening to have a fun date night!

Can I bring any outside food or drink?

Answer

Our venue is a fully licensed food and bar, so NO outside food or drink are able to be brought in. We hope that you respect us and the venue in this request and we will make sure there is plenty of food and drinks available to everyone.

What is the bar situation?

Answer

Wilsons has a fully licensed bar that will have beers, wines, and spirits available. Part of your meal provided will be unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, as well as 2 bar tickets for each person to redeem for any beer or wine. Any drinks after that or cocktails purchased can be paid by card or cash at the bar. They will ID.

Is there parking on site?

Answer

There is parking available at the venue. However, cars are not allowed to be left over night so we recommend carpooling or taking an uber. We recommend having your driving plans figured out before the night so we can ensure the safety of all our guests.

What happens if weather is bad?

Answer

While we are playing a semi-risky game with Iowas weather, the venue will make the decision on if the event is canceled. If that hard decision is made, communication will be made as soon as possible. If the event is not canceled but you do not feel safe traveling we completely understand and want our guests to be safe, we ask that you please let us know asap.
