In the days/weeks leading up to June 11th 2017, it seemed like any other normal week. I was out of college for summer break and had been working a little more than usual. Then I randomly get a text from my soon to be mother in law asking me to come over and baby sit Chase's younger brother, Cohen. It caught me a little off guard but a few days later I went and nothing happened so I assumed whatever I had been expecting wasn't going to happen. Well, little did I know, but Chase was meeting his mom to pick out and buy my engagement ring! The next weekend rolls around and my parents are down to visit me for the first time since I moved here in 2015. We were having a great time and we all went out to dinner, but Chase was supposed to be working night shift so he left pretty fast after eating. I had told my parents I wanted to take pictures with them to hang around my house and Chase suggested this place called Brick Pond near the Greenway. I'd never been but knew roughly where it was. After dinner my parents and I drove over to Brick Pond and walked around slowly till we arrived near this little dock, and my parents told me to walk down it, and as I started to my dad pulled his phone out of his pocket to record me and I instantly knew something was up! As I started walking down the dock on this pond, there was a beautiful sunset and it felt so nice outside that evening that I got distracted, and I tripped. But luckily I caught myself! And I also caught Chase's attention, he stood up from the little bench he had been sitting on waiting for me and after laughing at me he pulled me close to him and began to propose. When he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, I said no, then instantly said yes. Chase and I mess with each other all the time, so I had to have something to laugh about with him later. Then we hugged and kissed and were happily engaged!
Chase and I have been dating for almost 7 years (currently), we met when we were teenagers in high school, and because of that there have been different variations of how we've met, however here's the true story! Chase and I met on an online website similar to Facebook, called MyYearbook in 2011. We were pretty quickly fascinated with each other and we instantly became very close friends. The weird part to this story though, is that MyYearbook was a social forum that tried to show you local users, my parents didn't allow me to have social media though, so I changed my zip code I used just to be "safe from getting caught." However, I had forgotten I did that, so when Chase and I started really talking and wanting to meet up it came as a shock when I realized he basically lived in Georgia and I lived in North Carolina. But here we are 7 years later and it seems crazy how that random zip code I chose led me to the love of my life and we're now young adults about to be married.
