How we met

Old Friends Bring New Relationships

In high school I was once friends with a girl named Katelyn. After high school, we drifted apart. Sometime after high school Katelyn started working at Hobby Lobby where she met and became friends with a guy named Chase. On Katelyn's birthday she decided to contact me to renew our friendship. We went bowling where she introduced me to her friends so I wouldn't be the one there that didn't know anyone. Chase and I talked all night. Sometimes we missed our turn to bowl because we weren't paying attention. But, man, can he bowl. I threw some gutter balls.. even with the kid ramp and Katelyn's help.. we still did a gutter ball. But, Chase threw MULTIPLE strikes.. and that started our competitions between the two of us. After we finished bowling, because bowling at Bama Lanes ended at a weird time, we went to play Monopoly at Katelyn's house. We were on a team because there were too many of us. We talked so much that we didn't realize it was our turn a majority of the time. That was a fun night. From then on, we talked daily and NEVER ran out of things to talk about. I never got bored with the conversations and he never got bored. It's super amazing to find someone to talk to and never run out of things to talk about and never get bored with the conversation.

Proposal Story

Can You Escape?

One weekend, my friend Chelsea invited Chase and I to Breakout Birmingham. This was our forte. We like games. We broke out. The next weekend, we tried Escape Tuscaloosa. We broke out. Chase wanted to plan the next one for Breakout Tuscaloosa. He planned it for a Friday night with our regular group + his brother and his brother's girlfriend + my brother, Mac + my sister, Macee. We showed up at Breakout Tuscaloosa and was shown into the Haunted House room. I like puzzles and will stick with one until I finish it. That's how I got involved with a puzzle that had a maze and I needed a magnet for. The puzzle I happened to choose was the next-to-last puzzle and also the one that Chase would utilize to propose. How I chose that particular one..I'll never know. But, that puzzle had clues hidden around the Haunted House that would help me find the car magnet. The car magnet is what I would use to grab onto something behind the maze and drag it around the maze. I would drop that object twice and almost pass the car magnet to someone else before I got it to the end, with 2 minutes to spare. After it came out, it took me reading it aloud TWICE before I realized what it said..."Will you marry me?" We still had one more puzzle left to figure out so we couldn't celebrate until we were done. We escaped and kept our record. And.. I also said, "YES!" (as I was laughing because I couldn't believe he was that creative/romantic) Funny story, the Wednesday before that Friday, I ate Chinese with my dad. I got a fortune that said "This coming Friday will be an exciting time for you."
