How We Met

Our story began the summer of 2013. With plans of attending Lynchburg College in the Fall as student athletes, Jen and Chase joined a Facebook group for incoming freshmen. That is when Chase first caught Jen's eye. Chase posted in the group to follow him on Twitter, so of course, Jen did just that. Soon after, Jen was with her best friend, Morgan, when she told her about this cute guy who would be attending Lynchburg College and playing basketball. That's all Jen had to say and Morgan immediately took Jen's phone and messaged Chase on Twitter. After a few "Hi, how are you" and getting-to-know-you conversations, it turned out they would be attending the same Freshman Orientation on campus later in June. Small talk continued over the summer and when they started school in the Fall Jen and Chase just so happened to be in the same Freshman class that met once a week (to this day Chase thinks Jen somehow had something to do with that but let's be real, it was fate). The group's mascot was also conveniently Jen's favorite animal, a giraffe (again...fate). Jen and Chase would meet in the dell on campus to walk to their weekly orientation class together at 8:28 and 34 seconds every Wednesday night to be exact- a time chosen by Chase because his high school basketball number was 34. Jen and Chase grew closer over the course of the years but it wasn't until the beginning of junior year when Chase FINALLY asked Jen to be his girlfriend. From that point on the two never looked back. They were each other's biggest fans at athletic events and their relationship continued to grow throughout their time at Lynchburg College. On November 2, 2019, #TheChaseIsOver officially!!!

The Proposal

12.17.19

December 17, 2019 started out as just an ordinary day. Chase was at home for Christmas break (or so Jen thought) and Jen had planned on going to dinner and to look at Christmas lights with her best friend, Morgan (maid of honor). After a delicious dinner at Bootleggers, Jen and Morgan headed to the Christmas Tree at Liberty University to take some cute Instagram pictures (since Morgan had just gotten engaged), but little did Jen know they wouldn’t be the only people there. Jen was standing in front of the tree while Morgan “checked out the lighting on her camera”, when Chase and Jen's family came around the tree and Chase tapped Jen on the shoulder. Jen (being her gullible self) immediately says “what are you doing here? I thought you were at home”. A few seconds later Chase got down on one knee and asked Jen to spend the rest of her life with him! It was perfect!
