~~~~~
Our wedding is an interfaith Jewish/Protestant Christian wedding. There will be a number of Jewish wedding customs incorporated into our ceremony, and we understand that not all of our guests will be familiar with them. Each guest will receive a program with information about each element of the ceremony, and any songs/prayers we would like the audience to participate in. During the ceremony, our rabbi will lead you through singing the Bobover Wedding Niggun, a wordless traditional melody. No prior experience, knowledge, or singing skill is necessary, but if you'd like to hear it ahead of time, it can be found at: https://m.soundcloud.com/user-30824119/bobover-wedding-niggun We will have kippot (yarmulkes) available for any guest who wishes to wear one during the ceremony, but it is by no means a requirement to do so. The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes, followed by a period of yichud (a Jewish tradition in which the newly married couple withdraws together). We encourage our guests to use this time to mingle and explore the beautiful grounds surrounding the Washington at Historic Yellow Springs! The reception dinner will begin indoors at 4:30.
Officiant
Our interfaith Jewish ceremony will be officiated by the lovely Rabbi Mónica Gomery of Kol Tzedek Synagogue in West Philadelphia. In addition to being our rabbi, Rabbi Mo is also an accomplished poet and author - please feel free to visit her website! https://www.monicagomerywriting.com/
