We met online after I sent Lex a message telling him that he had piqued my interest. In the world of online dating, he appeared "normal". Honestly, I had viewed his profile several times before I sent that first message. I was hesitant about it because of the distance between us. Well, he responded to my message and said that he liked the straight-to-the-point honesty in my profile, and I liked his smile. We immediately exchanged numbers and our first conversations lasted for hours. It was like we were good friends who hadn't spoken in a while. It felt natural and comfortable and it lacked the getting-to-know-you pretentiousness that typically comes with first impressions. We were from the first moment unapologetically, 100% our authentic selves. And the rest is history. We did not expect to find our perfectly flawed better half online, but it was clearly fate.

We knew we were in love and that we wanted to be together. It's exactly 5 hours from my garage to his driveway and neither of us were interested in a long-term, long distance relationship. So, Lex was visiting for Labor Day weekend, and we went to dinner with my mom, my daughter Colby, and my future son-in-law Keith.
