Chelsea and Charlton met by complete chance, and it all started in another state! Chelsea had gone on a bachelorette trip to Gulf Shores for the weekend. She was with a group of girls who were all dancing and having a great time. Little did she know that her future husband was standing just a few feet away dancing with his own group of friends. Charlton had taken a short beach trip with friends that very same weekend. Throughout the night, Charlton and his group of friends were trying to come up with pick up lines in order to talk with the group of girls dancing by the stage. After a lot of thought, they believed they had come up with the best pick up line ever. Even though it was one of the cheesiest pick up lines she had ever heard, it must have worked! Because Chelsea decided to go and dance with one of them. After talking for the rest of the night, Chelsea and Charlton were excited to discover that they both lived in Louisiana. They exchanged numbers and made plans for a first date the following week. And as it is said, the rest was history!
A trip to Ireland was planned to celebrate Chelsea's graduation. Knowing this was her favorite place in the entire world, Charlton knew there would be no place better to ask her to marry him. He hatched a plan to sneak the ring in his luggage. He wanted to wait to propose until they were in Galway (Chelsea's favorite city), but that wasn't until the third day of the trip, so he was taking a chance of Chelsea accidentally discovering it. There was a close call on day two of the trip when Chelsea was getting something out of Charlton's suitcase for him while he was distracted and did not know what she was doing. Chelsea never understood why Charlton was so upset with her for getting him a pair of socks! He must have hidden it well though because Chelsea was none the wiser. When they made it to Galway, Charlton slipped the ring into his jacket pocket and they headed out for the day. They were walking along the swan dotted River Corrib towards a beautiful cathedral when he spotted a tiny bridge next to the river. It was the perfect spot. He pulled her aside and got down on one knee. Obviously, she said yes!
