It's a Wedding!

Dearest Readers, In today's tantalizing dispatch, prepare your hearts for a tale as modern as it is timeless, where love blooms not beneath chandeliers in ballrooms but over the clink of sushi plates and the pitter-patter of rain in none other than New York City. It was a gloomy, rainy day in May of 2022 when Miss Charlotte, a vision of wit and intelligence, embarked on what appeared to be a first date with Mr. Jon—a suitor she had met in the curious land of Hinge. But alas, it was not their first true meeting in spirit, for they had been engaged in correspondence for over a month (due to Mr. Jon’s rather deliberate pace). Yet the rain did not dampen the spirits of our protagonists, who braved the downpour with Charlotte's loyal companion, Douglass, a charming dog who, like any proper gentleman, would never be left out of such an important occasion. The setting? Nami Nori, an unassuming sushi haven where handrolls were shared under the watchful eyes of passersby. What it lacked in grandeur, it more than made up for in romance, for it was here that a spark—no, a fire—was ignited between our Charlotte and Jon. Some say it was the delectable sushi, others the exchange of spirited conversation, but what is certain is that love began to blossom over handrolls and rain-soaked streets. Ah, but love is rarely a simple affair, and our couple was not exempt from life’s many trials. They weathered the challenges of law school, living within the confines of a 10’x10’ studio apartment, layoffs, and even a perilous cross-country move. Their adventures took them from the heart of Broadway’s bright lights to the sun-drenched streets of Spain, indulging in both Michelin-starred feasts and the humble yet glorious tacos of Los Tacos No. 1. Through it all, dear readers, they found joy amid the chaos, proving that love, when true, endures. And now, the most delightful twist of all! While Mr. Jon planned to propose, Miss Charlotte set out to beat him to the punch, thus she assembled a proposal to match the depths of her affections. While Mr. Jon embarked on his final scuba certification dive in the crystal-clear waters of Puerto Rico, Charlotte—ever the bold heroine—popped the question beneath the waves. After a dramatic exhale of bubbles, Mr. Jon nodded, sealing their fate with a resounding ‘yes.’ While one proposal is wonderful in its own right, all can agree two are better! One evening, beneath the golden hues of a setting sun, Mr. Jon—ever the romantic—whisked Miss Charlotte to none other than Governor’s Island. The Manhattan skyline provided a breathtaking backdrop, but it was not the only view that would leave Miss Charlotte breathless. After indulging in a slice of their favorite Mah Ze Dahr cake, Jon revealed a ring—a precious heirloom passed down from Charlotte’s grandmother through her mother, rich with family history and meaning. With the city's lights twinkling behind them, Jon asked for Charlotte’s hand, and she, with a heart full of joy, said yes.
