On November 05, 2023, Tyler asked Charlotte to participate in a relay race with him for a fall fundraiser. This race consisted of multiple challenges, including a life-sized 'Hungry, Hungry Hippos' game. As fate would have it, they absolutely destroyed the competition and won a $50 gift card to North Georgia Barbeque. At the end of the next week, Tyler took this opportunity to ask Charlotte out on a date. On November 09, Tyler and Charlotte had dinner together and then proceeded to walk around campus and talk for eight straight hours. It was at this moment that they both realized there was something special happening.

Tyler had known for a while that he wanted to ask Charlotte to marry him, as their relationship was full of joy and love in ways he had never known before. During the summer of 2025, he began looking for rings and asked her parents for their blessing to marry Charlotte. Once he had the ring, Tyler asked friends and family to attend a post-proposal surprise party and then started planning out how he would propose. On the day of the proposal, all of their family worked together to set up while Tyler spent the day with the unsuspecting Charlotte. The plan was to eat at North Georgia Barbeque (where their first date was spent), then take the food to a location overlooking the North Georgia mountains to eat. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, and the location of their picnic was being torn down to build apartments, but thanks to the quick thinking of their family, they were able to get food and find another location, which happened to be the location where Tyler and Charlotte participated in the relay race. Charlotte had no idea that any of this was happening, and it was still a huge surprise. Once the proposal was over, they went back to Tyler's house, where the second surprise was - all of their friends and family were waiting for the after-party.
