My grandparents began vacationing in Telluride, CO in the 1980s and it quickly became their favorite place in the world. My family has spent countless Christmases, winter vacations, and endless days on the mountain over the years. We spread my grandparents' ashes on their favorite trail when they passed away, solidifying how special Telluride was to them and still is to my family. Sam joined us on these family trips several years ago and it quickly became one of his favorite places as well. On February 23, 2019, Sam asked me to go for a walk on the first night we arrived. He made a point of asking to walk towards the Coonskin Chairlift, a legendary chairlift in my family where you could be sure to find my grandparents. As we got to the chairlift, Sam began to tell me how much I meant to him and before I knew it, he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. As we hugged and kissed, strangers sledding and watching from afar, began to cheer and yell with excitement. I like to think it was my grandparents joining in on the celebration. Needless to say, Telluride, CO continues to be an extremely special place in my family.
