The National Mall is great to explore on foot or by car. We enjoy the monument walk - start at the Jefferson and make your way over to the Lincoln.
Reservations are a must for tea at the Willard, where our friend Kristen Jepperson plays the harp at the fabulous Peacock Alley.
Visit the Virginia side for a view of the falls from an easy-to-reach overlook, or venture over to the Maryland side to hike the aptly named Billy Goat Trail.
If you are in the mood for a hike, skip the Great Falls crowds and take a 2-mile hike along the river to the Great Falls.
