I love this sweet hometown bakery of mine. I remember walking downtown after school to snag myself a cookie (or two). Charlie LOVES the chocolate covered doughnuts, but beware their fresh goodies will go fast, especially on a Saturday morning. They're closed on Sundays so make sure you grab a sweet before then.
You're not allowed to leave Hendersonville without checking this place out. This restaurant is locally owned and my favorite breakfast place...ever. My go to: the gluten free banana pancakes with local honey drizzled on top, my mom and brother swear by the french toast and my dad ALWAYS gets the smokehouse skillet. You really cannot go wrong (other than not making the time to eat here). Just a heads up it's a small restaurant, so keep in mind you might have a little wait. However, there is a famous park within a 2 minute walk and you can always call ahead grab you're food and sit at a picnic table. The park is called Carl Sandburgs and I've also listed that as "something to do"
I'm a sucker for cute baby goats and beautiful hikes, so if you agree then Carl Sandburg is the place for you. Carl Sandburg is a great idea for family-friendly fun. Carl Sandburg offers easy hikes, more difficult trails and if you're not wanting to break a sweat then take a short walk up to the goat farm. Usually there are new baby goats in the summers!! If you need a coffee and brunch fix before you take the trails then grab some food at Honey and Salt just a few minutes away.
Welcome to Hendersonville, NC, home to the NC Apple Festival! Hendersonville is known for her apples and what better way to enjoy home grown apples than with a cider. Bold Rock is located in Mills River which is about 10 minutes outside of Hendersonville. They offer a beautiful outside venue for live music (with a glass of cider in hand). In addition, you can attend a Yoga class Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. with cider mimosas to follow. Seriously one of my favorite places to go when I'm at home. Plus cider is gluten-free, soooo brownie points!
Wine with a breath-taking view? Hmm...yeah that sounds like a good evening in the mountains. My dad grew up on the country roads that will you lead you out to this new Hendersonville vineyard. As you take your drive just picture a young Mike Gilliam racing you on his old dirt bike, weaving in and out of the apple trees that line the curvy roads. It's always fun to take a walk down memory line and even more fun when you've got glass of Carolina Wine.
I would love to see some of y'all take the river with a tube in hand. Maybe I'm assuming too much, but I don't think many of you have ventured out in the (cold) rivers of NC. If you're looking to step outside your comfort zone and have some good fun GO TUBING! Bring a swimsuit, sunscreen and a good time and you'll relax so much that you'll forget to come to our wedding (and I'll be okay with that as long as you're having fun). Embrace the mountains while you're here!!
Want to feel like you're in a small town? Go to Main Street aka our "happening" downtown and trust me it's 'happening" just maybe not like Atlanta or Athens. That's why I love it. Here's the run down: Need some coffee? Go to BlackBear, the coffee shop my dad would pick up Saturday morning coffee. McFarlans (previously mentioned) is just across the street. Hungry? Walk in to any restaurant and you'll be happy. My current favorite is Shine, the steak is really good and I love restaurant design. Want a quick sandwich? Three Chopt and Mountain Deli are great options. My high school volleyball team would eat at Three Chopt before our state playoff games. Dessert? Nothing like the cake batter or hendersonville mud ice cream from Kilwins. Grab a cone on Friday and walk down the street to Music on Main. You will find my grandparents perched in their chairs listening to a local band and watching...wait who am I kidding... they will be dancing. AND YOU BETTER JOIN THEM! I love my little downtown
Sierra Nevada speaks for itself. This beautiful environment is the perfect place for a small bite to eat with a large group of people. It's designed for community, so grab a friend and grab a beer and enjoy You might get lucky and have the opportunity to listen to some music on the back patio.
This is one of those places where you drive up and say, hmmm maybe we should try somewhere else. DON'T try somewhere else. Hot Dog world is a Hendersonville staple. For real this place is so good and cheap and you just won't be disappointed. I spent many good lunches with some of my favorite people in those out-dated booths and hopefully you will too!
Wonderful local restaurant located downtown Hendersonville. Shine is home to the only rooftop bar in Hendersonville. My family and I love the steak and the fries are to die for. The building itself is beautiful as the owner did a great job of incorporating pieces of history. I would suggest making a reservation or preparing for a longer wait!
In desperate need of a juicy burger and beer battered fries? This is your place. I can personally recommend the Highway 225 burger! The inside of the restaurant is decked out with photos from all the camps sprinkled around the are. It' so fun to look back through the many years of young kids fleeing to the mountains for summer camp. Seriously though, as soon as you roll in the parking lot you'll get a whiff of the bbq smoking and you won't be able to resist!
