FAQs

We hope this page answers any lingering questions you have about the wedding, but if you still don't have an answer to your question after reviewing the website please send us an email at charlieandbetsyswedding@gmail.com.
Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive at 4:30pm Eastern time! That's 3:30pm Chicago time for those keeping score at home. The ceremony will get underway at 5pm. The reception will finish up around 11pm.

Question

Should I test for Covid-19 before coming?

Answer

Yes please! We know that this isn't feasible for everyone for lots of reasons, but if you have a rapid test lying around we suggest you take it before coming to our event. If you do unfortunately test positive, we ask you to please stay home along with any other members of your party! Ditto for if you're feeling sick. We know that traveling to come to a wedding and then having to stay home at the last minute isn't what anyone wants, but we promise we will do our best to show our gratitude to you for keeping our friends and family safe!

Question

Should I wear a mask?

Answer

Yes please! We won't require you to wear a mask, but as we have a new variant on the loose we expect that indoor events like the ceremony and reception will be a potential source of transmission. By wearing a mask when not eating and drinking you can help protect yourself and our friends and family who are immunocompromised, pregnant, or otherwise at risk. The bride's parents are still recovering from covid and they can personally attest to how much it sucks. We'll have KN95s at the door if you'd like to mask up, and we'll be opening the windows to promote ventilation. Please contact us at charlieandbetsyswedding@gmail.com with any questions or concerns!

Question

Where is the Ceremony? Where is the Reception?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will both take place in Warren Hall, upstairs at the Journeyman Distillery. There is at least one other wedding taking place on July 16th, so if you walk in and don't recognize anyone, you might be at the wrong one!

Question

Can I drive to the wedding from Chicago without renting a place in town?

Answer

Yes! Please do! Depending on traffic and where in Chicago you're coming from it can be around a 1 to 2 hour drive. Keep in mind that Three Oaks, MI is in the Eastern time zone, so you will jump forward an hour when you arrive. Unfortunately public transportation and ride sharing companies are scarce in the area so using a car is best! If you are in need of a car pool please reach out to us and we'll do our best to hook you up with some fellow attendees making the drive!

Question

Are my children invited?

Answer

We welcome children at our wedding, and we have made an effort to include your children in your invitations and RSVP information. If you have a young child who was not included in your RSVP, and it would be difficult for you to organize childcare during the wedding, please reach out to us at charlieandbetsyswedding@gmail.com. Please let us know ASAP so we can make adjustments if necessary. Thank you!

Question

Can I drive to the Wedding from Toledo without renting a place in town?

Answer

Yes! But the drive is around 3 hours, so please keep this in mind for your travels. It may be a difficult drive home if you plan to stay for the reception. If you're coming from Toledo or somewhere else in Ohio, we think you would be more comfortable making local housing arrangements!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! Please check out our hotel blocks page for more info.

Question

Where should I eat breakfast/lunch/dinner?

Answer

Check out our Things to Do page on this site for some ideas from us! Our venue, Journeyman Distillery, is also attached to a full service restaurant (The Staymaker).

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We ask you to please respond by June 1st!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Please come in the clothes that make you feel festive and ready to dance! But if you are looking for a theme, summer cocktail attire is a look to aim for.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes! The ceremony and reception are both in Warren Hall at Journeyman Distillery. The distillery has several parking lots, both in the front and back of the building. If you are within walking distance and you are able however, we encourage you to walk! (Not cause there isn't parking, just cause it can be fun to walk)

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Your presence is a present! Being with us on our wedding day is gift enough. If you'd like to support us at the beginning of our marriage, you can check out our registry page on this website, but we also encourage you to support some of our favorite organizations. The Chicago Abortion Fund provides financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion care in Chicago, in Illinois, and the Midwest. With abortion care being put behind legal barriers in many states, Charlie and Betsy feel it is more important than ever to fund organizations that help people cross state lines to receive the care they need. https://chicagoabortionfund.salsalabs.org/makeadonation/index.html Brave Space Alliance is a Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ Center located on the South Side of Chicago, dedicated to creating and providing affirming, culturally competent, for-us by-us resources, programming, and services for LGBTQ+ individuals on the South and West sides of the city. https://www.bravespacealliance.org/donate The Chicago Bond Fund is working to end pre-trial incarceration in Illinois, you can donate here: https://chicagobond.org/donate/ The Feminist Bird Club is a birding organization with chapters throughout the world. Question

Is there a shuttle to and from the venue?

Answer

There is a shuttle from the Fairfield Inn in New Buffalo to the venue; we highly suggest guests staying there or at other places in New Buffalo and adjacent towns to consider it! The shuttle will leave the Fairfield Inn at 3:45 and 4:30. It will leave Journeyman to return at 9:30 and 11:30.
