Things To Do

Newfield is a quiet little town, but Ithaca is just 15 minutes away with great restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. The surrounding Finger Lakes region is full of wonderful wineries, farmers markets, and beautiful hiking trails. Early fall is one of the best times of year to explore the gorges and waterfalls the area is known for. Charlie and Andrei met as undergrad students at SUNY Cortland over ten years ago, and since Cortland is just 30 minutes northeast of Ithaca, they've had plenty of time to explore the area together. Below is a list of some of their favorite spots and things to do!

Ithaca Farmers Market

Seneca Lake Wine Trail

The Finger Lakes Region is famous for its many wineries! There are beautiful views of the lakes and all different kinds of wine. The town of Watkins Glen at the southern tip of Seneca Lake is the most popular starting point for the wine trail and is roughly 30 minutes west of Ithaca and Newfield.

Cayuga Lake Wine Trail

Cayuga Lake is the lake that Ithaca sits on, so it's the closest wine trail to Newfield. It's a bit less popular than Seneca Lake but still has gorgeous views and great wine.

Buttermilk Falls State Park

You can hike or just drive to see the falls, either way it's worth a stop! The photo above is Charlie and Andrei at Buttermilk Falls back in 2017!

Cascadilla Gorge Trail

A fun short hike you can take through Cornell's Campus. End your hike at Collegetown Bagels! The photo above is Charlie and Amara (bridesmaid) at Cascadilla Gorge back in 2019!

Watkins Glen State Park

More waterfall hikes about 35 minutes from Ithaca and Newfield. Watkins Glen is one of the most popular state parks in New York and has 19 waterfalls!

Ithaca Bakery

400 N Meadow St, Ithaca, NY 14850

Charlie and Andrei love this spot for breakfast or lunch. It's also right next to Purity Ice Cream if you're looking for a sweet treat after!

Mark Twain Golf Course

2275 Corning Rd, Elmira, NY 14903

A golf course about 45 minutes from Newfield in Elmira where Charlie went to graduate school. The photo above is Charlie and Andrei at the Elmira College Golf Outing in 2022.
