On a fall evening sophomore year of college, Amanda's sorority of Chi Omega at Gettysburg College was hosting their annual Mr. Fraternity Pageant to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For this pageant, fraternities select a candidate from their pledge class to represent them in the fight for the title of Mr. Fraternity. To win, contestants must compete in a talent portion, a question portion and do a runway walk, all in the name of charity. Representing Phi Delta Theta, was Charlie who played a cover of Lil Jon's 'Get Low' on the ukulele in an American flag speedo, which was fitting as he had a swim meet the next day. Amanda showed up to the event after track practice in a seat saved by Kate Gregg and Molly Chason. The night was filled with excellent and obscure talents, but all were overshadowed by a scantily clad ukulele performance and a tuxedo runway walk. Charlie was crowned Mr. Fraternity and was invited to Chi O's afterparty at 308 Stratton St. It. was at this party where their numbers were exchanged. The next day Charlie PR'd in 200 butterfly thanks to a good luck charm and just one week later asked Amanda to fall formal. Eight years later they are ready to say "I do" as the next step in their journey together.
