Chincoteague is pronounced shin-co-teague, Assateague is pronounced similarly.
The word "Chincoteague" is said to be a Native American name meaning "beautiful land across the water." Most of the names of towns and waterways on the Eastern Shore are of Native American origin.
Chincoteague and Assateague are famous from the book "Misty of Chincoteague" about the wild ponies. Grab a copy at Sundial Books!
Of course! Check out www.chincoteaguechamber.com to see the Chamber of Commerce list of restaurants, shops, activities, and events.
Make it memorable! Wear whatever is comfortable for you or that one thing in your closet you've had for years and never get to wear anywhere (looking at you, Halloween costumes and grad gowns).
We would prefer guests not to bring the crotch goblins, as cute as they are. There will be drinking (not mandatory of course) and I doubt anyone wants to get a hotel room for the babysitter too!
Of course! We'll be doing the cooking ourselves so please include any information about dietary requirements with your RSVP.
Please RSVP by March 21st so that we have time to account for food, drinks, and party favors accordingly.
