How We Met

September 2019

We first crossed paths while getting our undergrad at Queens College. Hanging out in the dining hall was our thing, and we often ended up spending more time there than we probably should have. Over time, as we kept crossing paths, I started to take notice of her. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen, always just one table too far away. A true friend-of-a-friend situation. Too scared to introduce myself at first, I would think of different ways to "naturally" introduce myself. You can say, I was too scared. Either way, everything changed the day I was handing out flyers for a party my frat was hosting. Finally, the perfect excuse to speak to her, all I had to do was hand her a flyer. I tried my hardest not to trip over my nerves as I walked toward her. She was focused on doing homework, and I was an obnoxious boy coming to annoy her. Fumbling over my words I introduced myself while falling into her beautiful brown eyes. I noticed I had interrupted her from studying for her statistics class. I tried to make the interaction quick and invited her to the party, practically throwing the flyer at her. Which she politely grabbed and then grinned, most likely since she would not have to deal with me anymore. As I turned to walk away I knew It was now or never, so I went for it. Swinging back around I asked "Is that for your statistics class?" She confirmed it was and everything began to fall into place. I offered to help her study under one condition, that she help me hand out the rest of the flyers. Three hundred flyers later, all my nerves were gone, I learned she never loses anything, and I knew she was the one for me. - Charlie

The Proposal

8.25.23

Back where we had our first date, he told me we would be having a picnic. I was super excited, especially when he told me I wouldn't need to take the train since he would be picking me up. Little did I know he had gotten all of my friends together to set up the picnic spot to be a proper proposal. A blue tent outlined with a flower trim, bright white letters spelling out " Marry Me", complete with pedals and candles littered around. He later told me, they struggled for most of the day with the rain. Making sure everything didn't get soaked, and praying it would stop. As me and my future husband made our way back to the picnic location, he asked me to close my eyes. I hate when he asks me to do that. He's lucky I went along with it. I definitely had some suspicions and went along with it not to ruin the plan. Somehow as he was shaking assisting me down the last few steps towards the rest of our lives. Needless to say I said yes, and we spent the rest of the evening celebrating with our closest friends and family.
