Charli's Story: In May '14 I got a call from my cousin, Bailey, about an upcoming trip with her boyfriend, Clint, to South Padre Island. Clint decided to bring his brother, Wes, & Bailey decided to bring me along! "Don't mind Clint's brother; he'll probably be off doing his own thing mostly." So, the trip happens & there's loads of bantering & belly-aching laughs. The first day was great, & as I'm winding down for the evening in our condo I walk onto our balcony to find a sleeping Wes in a chair. He wakes up &, in true Wes fashion, proceeds to tell me about two hours worth of his life story... & we actually had quite the fine chat! Fast forward through the rest of the beach trip & the summer that followed & I felt like I'd gained a wonderful friend. We crossed paths on occasion, but eventually didn't connect for some time while I made some big changes in my life. After my life seemed to settle a bit we managed to cross paths again when I went to hang out with Bailey & some friends! Wes was there & it was as if no time had passed at all. Within another month or two we'd managed to get a little more chatty & eventually were hanging out on a regular basis. One thing led to another & on Halloween '14 my good ol' "buddy" Wes made it official by planting one on me in front of Clint & Bailey! Halloween is now our "Date-Iversary" (he's forever doomed to couple's costumes, ha) & we've managed to find just the right balance of flirting, picking on each other, obsessing over our "fur child" & enjoying each other's company. We went back to SPI years later where he proposed (shortly after Clint & Bailey's engagement!). I still love his long stories & he still makes me laugh like he did 4 years ago. And though it initially raises eyebrows when Bailey & I say "we're cousins marrying brothers", the closeness of our families & the dynamic between us all is my favorite part of it all! Wes' Story: I told Clint I knew I'd marry [her] the first day I met [her]. That's it!
