First the JD then Matrimony

Our journey together began with a shared dedication to the law and a promise that Charles made from the start: no one was going to fail on his watch. As 1Ls in the blended learning program at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, we connected over our shared passion for justice and our determination to succeed. Charles, ever the supportive paralegal, was the go-to person for anyone who needed help navigating the complexities of law school—and I was no exception. What started as study sessions and late-night discussions of case law soon turned into something deeper. We spent countless hours poring over textbooks, discussing legal theories, and encouraging each other through the challenges that come with being law students while maintaining full time employment. But it wasn’t just our shared academic goals that brought us closer—it was the understanding, respect, and admiration we found in each other. Our relationship took an exciting turn when we both enrolled in the Global Arbitration and Dispute Resolution study abroad program in London. Studying in Europe was a dream come true for both of us, and the experience only strengthened our bond. Over a span of five weeks we explored the historic streets of London, Paris, Venice and Scotland to learning about international law from some of the world’s leading experts, we created memories that we will cherish forever. It was during our time in Europe that our blossoming love truly solidified. Away from the typical demands of life and excessive credit hours in law school, we found time to explore Europe and our relationship. Whether we were debating legal principles or walking hand-in-hand along the Thames, we realized that our connection was something special and extraordinary. We knew our love was orchestrated by God!! As we prepare to embark on this next chapter of our lives, we are filled with gratitude for the journey that brought us here. What started as a commitment to ensure that no one would fail has turned into a lifetime commitment to each other. We are so excited to celebrate our love with all of you and to share in the joy of our special day. Here’s to a future filled with love, laughter, and continued adventures—both in the courtroom and beyond.
