Paula: I was living in Santiago, Chile and looking to escape the draconian COVID-19 restrictions there. In July 2020, I left the country and headed to New York City for an adventure. Charles: I was living in New York City, struggling like everyone to adjust to the realities of COVID-19. Little did I know, what I needed most was a smart, adventurous woman who loved to travel! And that’s when we met. Our first date was a hike up Bear Mountain, and we knew right away that we had found our perfect match. After 3 months in NYC, Paula had to return to Santiago. Luckily, there was a total solar eclipse in Chile that Charles used as an excuse to visit. Our relationship blossomed from there. In 2024, we saw another solar eclipse, this time in New York, and that’s when Charles proposed. You could say that the moon and the sun conspired to bring us together.
