Close Encounters of the Marisa Kind

Many Moons Ago

So there was this guy I'd see outside sometimes and I thought he was cute. Kinda shy, didn't talk a lot, wore motorcycle t-shirts. I'd always wanted to date a guy with a motorcycle. :) He seemed really nice. We hung out a little during work so I asked him to go get some coffee off campus and hang out (I knew he wouldn't). LOL He ended up taking me up on the request. Well, one doesn't really get coffee on a Friday evening in downtown Ann Arbor. So we ended up at a small Korean restaurant called "Tomikun" and talked over curry. Somehow this turned into a date!! Fast forward a few years and I asked him to marry me. It all worked out pretty well, I think. <3

Close Encounters of the Chuck Kind

Many Suns Ago

There was this woman at work that I always saw when I went out on my varied breaks. She seemed real cool and easy to converse with. Coming from a typical "shy guy", the easy to talk to part was a clear indicator we could get along. :) This was specially noted when walking away I heard her exclaim "Yes! He has a motorcycle!". LOL. Next thing I know, we're friends on social media and trading cat memes on a regular basis. One day she mused about "being bored and wanting to go out and get coffee" (with no one in particular targeted). In a feat of non-shy guy social anxiety, I replied to her saying I would go get some coffee with her. Oddly, this turned into getting coffee after work on a Friday. Being an odd time, we decided to go hang out in Ann Arbor and get some dinner. Much laughter and fun was had. It was at this time where I uttered the fateful question; "Is this.. a date?" It was... Several years later when she asked me to marry her, I said "yes". No regrets. :)
