January 27, 2020 Charles reached out to Katie through a dating app, but Katie wasn't ready yet so she ignored his message. Three months later Charles again reached out to Katie, but this time through a different dating app. After carefully reading over his dating profile and Facebook stalking him to make sure they had at least one friend in common in the small Adventist world, on April 12th Katie finally responded back to Charles! The pandemic and shutdown were great conversation starters. From there Charles and Katie started to learn a lot about each other and shared many animal videos until they were talking to each other everyday and wanting to meet in person. Work schedules, vacations, and COVID prevented them from meeting until Labor Day Weekend. On September 6th they had their first date! It was an eventful day that included Six Flags over Texas, blisters, long lines, lost contacts, an escaping dog, and a parking lot flute serenade. After spending all day together, they both agreed that they wanted to keep seeing each other and the purpose for dating is to work towards the goal of marriage. Charles went back to San Antonio the next day, but it wasn't long until Katie was able to go visit him in his city. They both hated spending time apart and thoroughly enjoyed the time that they got to spend with each other. They both thought the other was who God intended to be their life partner that they had been persistantly praying for. So on September 25th when Charles got down on one knee and asked if she would be his wife, Katie said YES!
