Getting to San Sebastian and Accommodation Recommendations

Flight

Flights

San Sebastián is served by three convenient airports 1) Bilbao (BIO) – most flight options. ~1–1.5 hr by car/taxi/rideshare Direct coaches run from Bilbao Airport → San Sebastián; they drop you at the main bus station (walkable/short taxi to most hotels). 2) Biarritz, France (BIQ) ~45–60 min by car (border crossing is seamless within Schengen). Train/bus combos are available (via Hendaye/Irun). 3) San Sebastián (EAS) – closest regional airport ~20–30 min by taxi/car to the city. Smaller airport with limited flights; super convenient if schedules align. Note on Taxis/Car Rental: Taxis are plentiful at all airports. Rideshares vary—taxis are usually easiest. Parking in the city center is limited, so check your hotel if you plan to rent a car.

Travel Note

Accomodation

San Sebastián is famously walkable, so you can not go wrong with a hotel, Airbnb, or vacation rental in the city center. Recommended neighborhoods include: Gros: Young, surfy energy by Zurriola Beach; tons of cafés and brunch spots (closest to the welcome party!). Parte Vieja (Old Town): Cobblestone lanes, pintxo bars, lively at night; steps from La Concha & Zurriola Centro: Elegant boulevards and shops; easiest for public transit and rail station. There are plenty of boutique hotels in the area, but some recommendations are below listed.
