On September 23, 2023, a cold and rainy Saturday night, Charlene was supposed to meet her friends Melissa and Amber for food, drinks, and live music by Danny Beck at the Grey Fox Grille in Dover, DE. She almost didn't go due to the dreary weather, but her friends sent a photo of them waiting for her to arrive. She decided to go meet them for drinks and tacos (of course). That same evening, Nathan was invited as well to watch Danny play, and also almost didn't go. Once Charlene arrived, she sat with her friends at the bar. Nathan's mom, who used to work with Charlene's mom, came over to say hi and see how Charlene had been the last few years. Shortly after, Charlene was introduced to Nathan who came over to say hello. Charlene and Nathan started talking about their jobs and had an interesting conversation about the importance of safety goggles in the construction business as well as the dangers and safety requirements when working with asbestos. Yes, we know, definitely something only a science NERD like Charlene would talk about in a place with live music and on a Saturday night. At the end of the night, Melissa would not let either of us leave until we exchanged numbers...so we did. We started talking and texting, went on our first date a couple weeks later, and the rest is history.
