Welcome to Our Story! As you could have guessed, its the Bride here, writing the our story page, so I will do my best to limit bias here! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: For those of you that do not already know, I do call Eli by his middle name Luke and will refer to him as such throughout the story below. Luke and I met through an old employer of mine. Luke was a golf assistant at The Country Club of Castle Pines that my old boss was a member of. I had recently moved to Denver and my boss asked if I would be interested. I (obviously) said yes, and not long after Luke invited me on a date. In true last minute fashion the week before our planned first date I invited him over to the townhome I was renting to have drinks with my roommates and I. Luke showed up and the very first thing I asked him was " What is your Middle Name?" he was puzzled, but answered graciously "It's Luke", I then proclaimed that is what I would call him. I explained that my brothers name was also Eli and if this was going to go anywhere, that was not going to work. Luke accepted and that's why he is called Luke in this story and why all of our wedding information holds both his first and middle name. After that first encounter things continued to take its course. We enjoyed spending time together going to hockey games, trying new breweries, playing golf, cooking together, exploring Denver, playing more golf, skiing, snowboarding, going to comedy shows, and of course, playing more golf. Then COVID. We had just signed our first apartment together 6 months earlier and taken our first long vacation together on a cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. IF COVID didn't teach us we could live together in a small apartment I don't know what could. We learned how to cope with each other quirks (mostly mine if we are being honest) and how to make the most of a bad circumstance. Then Some More Covid.
As you could guess, we really did not enjoy being confined to such a small space. Thus, the house hunt began. By the grace of god we won the bid on a home in Castle Rock, CO and closed in April of 2021. Summer of 2021 passed quickly with golf season and the best way to end summer is with a trip or two or four, to the Minnesota State Fair. In true fashion I flew home for the fair and walked through those perfect gates 4 of the 5 days I was in Minnesota. The 4th visit being the most memorable state fair to date. Luke proposed in the horticulture building in what can only be described as the "Hall of Christmas Trees". It was perfect and private and everything a girl who loves the fair and loves Christmas even more could have asked for. Whew. If you made it through that congrats! Our fairytale is being written everyday and we cannot WAIT to celebrate it with you!
