All are welcome in Paris but only those on guest list are welcome at Le Village Sur le Roc. If you have not received an invite directly addressed to you specifically unfortunately we can not extend an invitation to Chateau due to limited space.
The Chateau is a 4 1/2 hour train ride from Paris and can be booked with a third party booker like www.raileurope.com or www.Omio.com or directly with rail line at www.sncf-connect.com which is the most cost effective ticket options as fees are less than other bookers. If you are booking from Paris the most direct route it is from Austerlitz Train Station (Gare Austerlitz). You can fly from Paris Orly Airport to Brive la Gaillarde which is about an 1.5 hour flight. You will need to search Air France for this flight as it will not show up on Google Flights. Upon arrival it is about an hour drive to Chateau from train station or about 40 minutes from airport. Car Rentals are available at Train Station Brive la Gaillarde stop or at the airport. In addition Toulouse airport and Bordeaux airport are options with a 2 hour drive after arrival.
I highly recommend renting a car for the Wedding Adventure. You will need an International Driver's Permit which can be obtained online or at your local AAA in addition to your local driver's license. Some car rental agencies may require a large hold on your credit card and a proof of address like a utility bill. Please double check with rental company for their requirements upon booking so you will have all the information required for rental. Make sure when you make reservation you designate whether you need an automatic car or a stick shift as automatic may not be readily available. Here is a website with car rentals at a reasonable price https://www.bsp-auto.com/chalair_aviation/list.asp
The steering wheel is on the same side as the US and driving is similar to the United States. The speed limits are in kilometers and a lot of the cars are stick shift.
Paris and the surrounding areas have access to Metro, Tram or Bus. I do not recommend renting a car in Paris. Please note that luggage restrictions have changed for the Metro so if you have too many large bags you may be susceptible to $200 fine. Please reference this article for additional information about metro luggage sizes https://parisplaybook.com/paris-metro-luggage-fines/. I suggest upon arrival and departure you book private transportation via ride share application or a transfer company.
Passport and possibly a European Travel Authorization (ETIAS). Right now they have delayed this authorization which would need to be secured before you travel until the last quarter of 2026 but things could change. Please visit this website for latest information concerning the additional visa status to ensure you have the correct travel documents https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en. In addition it is recommended that your passport should be valid at least for six months beyond your travel date even though France only requires 3 months as some airlines may deny boarding without the 6 months term.
The dress is formal attire. We ask that all guests wear something with a floral theme. For example for men a floral tie or floral jacket and for the ladies a floral pattern dress/jumpsuit or a dress/jumpsuit that has a flower on it.
Paris is a relatively safe city but much like other big cities if you are not smart and careful you are prone to becoming a victim of a pickpocket. Please note the scams come in different packages to distract you so please be aware of anyone coming up to you to sign a petition, putting a bracelet on your wrist or a ring on your finger. Walk away from people who approach you as they are for sure trying to scam you. In addition wear you purses or back packs in the front at the Metro stations or other popular tourist attractions like the Louvre or Sacre Coeur and make sure your phones and purses are secure at all times.
Always greet a shopkeeper, proprietors, drivers, retail clerks, etc with a "Bonjour Madame" or "Bonjour Monsieur" before anything else even before excuse me. When your transaction is complete make sure to say "merci au revoir". France is a verbally formal culture and requires this to be polite. There are many scams for tickets and sites that look like the museum but are a third party vendor. I strongly suggest going to the website for the particular venue/museum you desire to visit for the best deal and to ensure authenticity of ticket. The websites will end in.fr and I have them listed under the things to do tab of this website for your convenience.
