We were introduced by my best friend/linesister who grew up with Chaq in Houston. We were long distance for 4 years until we finally closed the distance in Houston in 2019.
Funny thing, Chaq had planned a romantic proposal in Thailand prior to COVID. In an attempt to salvage, he attempted Aruba and Hawaii but the travel bans came left and right. The day after our 5 year anniversary, I was surprised with breakfast, a nail appointment, and a pick of dresses for dinner with a private chef. I got home and a makeup artist was waiting to do my makeup. I thought nothing of it because Chaq is always doing romantic things like this for Valentine's Day, birthdays, etc. We pull up to a beautiful townhouse and open the door to a room dim with easels filled with 16x20 photos of our most memorable moments, a clue and puzzle for each with Maxwell playing in the background. After completing the word scrambles, I walked upstairs to Chaq playing our song "Get You" by Daniel Caesar on his saxophone and Marry Me lit up in front of the Houston skyline. Of course, I said YES and out popped my sister and best friend who introduced us with all of our family on facetime. It was the happiest day of our lives!
