A 5-minute drive from the wedding venue, Main Street of Ambler has an old-school movie theater and a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars on both sides of a 5-block street.
A 15-minute drive from the wedding venue, Chestnut Hill is on the way to the city of Philadelphia if you're heading that way, sits on a cobblestone street which gives it an old-school feel. Iron Hill Brewery is one of our favorite spots and has outdoor seating right along the main road in nice weather.
A 30-minute drive from the wedding venue, this town is very similar to Ambler but more spread out and with more restaurant options.
A 40-minute drive from the wedding venue, New Hope sits on the edge of the Delaware River and has Revolutionary War history, an abundance of shops, and restaurants with views overlooking the river. A walking bridge allows you to easily access another cute town called Lambertville, NJ, right on the other side of the river.
A 12-minute drive from the venue, this is one of our favorite hikes to take with Autumn, and it's the site of our engagement proposal. On one side of the stream is a wide, flat gravel path with a lot of foot/bike traffic, and on the other is a slightly more technical path that's quieter. Both lead to a covered bridge after about a mile, and the trails keep going from there.
A 25-minute drive from the venue, Valley Forge is where the Continental Army trained for the Revolutionary War. The National Park is a paved trail with views and historical landmarks along the way. The hour-long bus tour that begins at the visitor's center is also a great way to see the entire park.
Dave and I loved doing this self-guided walking mural tour. It gives you a great way to view to and explore the city's different areas. Checkout the website and it will give you two different routes to check out.
