How We Met - Jim's POV

The one

For several years we only saw each other occasionally through our mutual friends but never seemed to talk much. Amy was habitually late/unavailable and I was habitually grumpy. Long story short, there was a setup, a ferris wheel, a bad haircut, a first date, two weeks of unreturned texts, a first kiss, a year and a half together, and a proposal above alligator infested waters. Amy is the talker in the relationship. See details below...

How We Met - Amy's POV

The blonde one

I first met Jim at the Ren Fest years ago in a group outing... and I was 3 hours late. He hates it when people are not punctual and he has always sworn to never get with someone who couldn't be on time. We always ran in the same friend circles, but the most that I ever got out of him was a "yes" to my leftover fried oysters. Years later, Jim popped into my head. I told my childhood friend and confidante, Nnena, that I was hoping to be set up with "that blonde one" Jim from her office! I conspired with our friends Sarah, Leo, and Nnena (shout-out! Thanks y'all!) to lure Jim out to Truck Yard, a local bar. He had no clue! That night, he hopped on the ferris wheel with me despite being terrified to get on. To this day, he will deny this. I asked him out while it was accelerating to top speed & the door bolted shut. Obviously he had to say yes at that point! Our first date consisted of us laughing about tofu and me eating tacos & chips with a fork. After that date, I figured he was alright. To this day, he still jokes that I picked him out of a catalogue at the office as "the blonde one."
