Our story technically began 5 years ago when Kaitlyn moved to Spokane and joined her church's worship team. Kaitlyn and Cameron faithfully served on that team together for 3.5 years. The extent of our relationship at that time was nothing more than occasional "good mornings" when arriving at rehearsal, or "nice jobs" after finishing a set. Kaitlyn loves to point out that during this time, Cameron often stopped replying to her texts mid conversation and thought nothing of it. Cameron loves to point out that during this time, Kaitlyn stood him up for coffee before a church event and also thought nothing of it. We both had no idea of what was to come. Then one random January day, Cameron texted Kaitlyn and asked if she wanted to go skiing with him. For both of us, this trip to the mountain was strictly platonic. Cameron swears that this hangout was God's doing because he would have been way too nervous to ask someone on a date out of the blue. And Cameron was right. God had something in mind we could have never conjured up ourselves. From the second we started the drive to the mountain, we were completely comfortable. We talked about every topic you can think of. We quickly realized that though we have very different personalities, the core of our beings just understood each other. It was a breath of fresh air. After that trip, Cameron continued to ask Kaitlyn to go skiing. Cameron admits that if Kaitlyn didn't finally speak up and hint at going on an actual date, we would have gone skiing for at least 10 more years before anything progressed. But Cameron quickly caught on and planned the perfect official first date, piecing together several details he remembered Kaitlyn sharing about her favorite foods and recent hobbies. It was fun and easy and full of stereotypical butterflies. Then, for our next few dates, and even up until we made things official, we both remember feeling really nervous around each other. Deep down, we both knew that we stumbled into something big that might just be the real deal, and that overwhelmed the crap out of both of us. But God kept bringing us back to each other, slowly and patiently revealing more and more about how all of this was meant to be. Over the course of the next two years, God continued to reveal his perfect plan. He's brought healing, challenge, growth, freedom, hope, and a deep joy to both of our lives. Our trips up to the mountain have continued, and in addition to that, we’ve found a deep love for cooking together, workout classes with friends, walks and bike rides, hosting, and of course, serving on our worship team where this all began. Through all of it, God is making us better, and we cannot wait to continue down this path of life together as this is just the beginning. We found our person. We found our partner. And we are SO ready to promise forever and celebrate this gift with all of our favorite people. So...let's do this thing!!!
