Through Abbie's Eyes

In the words of Taylor Swift, Abbie and Chapman truly feel like they've been connected by an "invisible string" since their beginnings. Although born states apart, God would bring them together at long last in October of 2019. While scrolling Hinge, a dating app that both Abbie and Chapman were growing tired of, the pair was drawn to each other at first profile-glance. After a few days of fun and easy banter via text, Chapman asked Abbie out to drinks. She was already captivated by his quick-witted humor, sincerity, and warmth, so of course she said, "Duh!" They met up a couple of days before Halloween at a swanky, dimly lit cocktail bar. Not even the dim of the bar could put out the sparkle of that first conversation. Abbie realized Chapman was as handsome, charming, and funny (like, actual funny) as he was through the phone. The next day, Chapman reached out first thing in the morning to make plans for a second date. He didn't play games. Abbie was sold, and really thought, "This man is too good to be true!" Not only was he "true," but he was more than she ever could have imagined. She'd only become more and more "sold" as the dates turned into long hangouts, and eventually Chapman asked her to be his girlfriend. She said "Duh!," of course... Long hangouts turned into a Covid shutdown in which Abbie and Chapman spent even more time together. He showed her what it meant to be unconditionally loved by an unwavering, steadfast, wonderful human-being. She knew the whole time that he was it. She'd often pinch herself and ask how she got so lucky. So flash forward to August of 2022, when Chapman got down on one knee, and asked Abbie to marry him. She was so blissfully happy that she could only think of one thing to say..."Duh!," and the rest is history.

Through Chapman's Eyes

How does one find words for someone who keeps them perpetually speechless? I guess I will try… Abbie and Chapman met on a cool, winter night in October of 2019. Although extremely nervous to meet her (which was somewhat relieved by a pre-date Truly,) Chapman and Abbie quickly hit it off after a few cocktails at a fun, cozy bar in the West Bottoms. The next morning, Chapman realized that he wanted to get to know Abbie more, and he asked her on another date, which led to another date, which led to another date. Eventually, Chapman decided that he wanted to ask Abbie to be his girlfriend. To his delight, she said yes! The sparks kept flying over the next few months, and Chapman began to realize that Abbie was different, special, and someone who he wanted to spend every moment with. His wish came true, just not maybe the way that he had imagined, when the two were largely confined to only seeing one another in the spring/summer of 2020. While admittedly a difficult time period for both Abbie and Chapman, the two were inseparable and grew to love each other even more, whether that be secluded and isolated walks around the Plaza, LOTS of Netflix and streaming services on the weekends, and the occasional pool days (if they weren’t getting yelled at by the neighborhood HOA.) As the pandemic (and people’s attitudes towards it) faded away, their love grew stronger, and Chapman knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Abbie. He also knew that he wanted it to be a very special day for Abbie, and wanted both of them to be surrounded by all of their family and friends. So, with some planning and a lot of help, Chapman concocted his plan to propose to Abbie in front of all their family, right under her nose. (It was a lot work - trust me!) Luckily for him, his plan paid off, and on August 20, 2022, she said yes!
