We first met in middle school; I was in 8th grade and he was in 7th grade - (I know what you’re thinking, but he’s only 6 months younger than I am!) We really liked each other and talked quite often, but we didn’t pursue anything as most middle school “relationships” don’t last. Once I left for high school we didn’t see each other ever, therefore our communication stopped. Time went by and a year later there was still zero communication. However, December of 2011 came and this is when wrestling season started. I had known Zach was a wrestler, but did not think a thing of it. For something to do, I went to the first wrestling dual of the season and sat with some friends. Next thing I know, here comes Zach walking through the arena. This is going to sound cheesy, but my heart skipped a beat and I had nothing but butterflies in my stomach. I messaged him on facebook almost immediately, asking for his phone number. He wrote back later that night, mentioning he still had my number and said he’d text me so I had his. I received his text, and we picked up right where we left off. After about a month of talking with each other and hanging out, Zach officially asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history ❤️
After almost 7 years of dating, Zach and I decided it was time to get our first house together. I was done with school and working full-time, and Zach had already been full-time for a couple of years. We knew it was financially appropriate and we also knew we wanted to be together forever. In September of 2018, we started house hunting. It was a long process, but we found our perfect starter home a couple of weeks later. After everything was said and done, we found out our closing date was October 26th, 2018. In the meantime, we both packed up our personal belongings and the essentials, and prepared for our closing day. After a long wait, the day was finally here and we got to start our forever, together. After the official closing was done and we got the keys, we started moving small things in. Later that day, our families were done with work and able to help us move the big items. Zach took a friend of ours to his house to grab his dresser and his couch. He returned, and asked for my help to grab pieces out of the back of the truck. As soon as I turn around, I see the love of my life down on one knee. I was most definitely suprised and slightly shocked; I didn’t think it was going to happen at this time, on this day. I stood there with my hands over my mouth, in awe that this is actually happening. He asked those four special words, “Will you marry me?” and I, of course, said “YES!” I was more than ecstatic to be marrying my best friend and I never thought I could be happier and more in love with this man! It was an incredible day, and even sweeter that both of our families could share this special moment with us. Here’s to forever!
