Covid-19 Testing

Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is requiring all air passengers entering the United States to present a negative COVID-19 test result.
Question

Is the Covid-19 test free?

Answer

All reservations of 3 or more nights booked will receive 2 complimentary antigen tests per room; additional tests can be purchased for $50 USD. Antigen testing meets these CDC requirements and must be taken within 3 calendar days before your departure flight to the U.S.

Where will tests be performed?

Answer

Tests will be performed at the hotel in a dedicated isolated area away from the public and following the hotel’s enhanced safety protocols.

Do I need to make an appointment for the test or will walk-ins be accepted?

Answer

Guests are required to make an appointment and walk-ins will not be accepted. A team will assist guests onsite with scheduling their tests after they have checked-in. (Please try to make your appointment as soon as you check-in at the hotel.)

What is the minimum age for a test to be required?

Answer

The CDC order applies to all air passengers 2 years of age or older.

If 4 guests are staying in my room but they are children, do they apply to the $50 per person per test?

Answer

Yes, all guests 2 years of age and older will be included in the cost of $50 per person per test for any additional guests in a room with 3 or 4 guests.

What if I test positive but the rest of my family is negative?

Answer

You will have to isolate yourself and quarantine in a separate room at the hotel. If your family members who tested negative would like to extend their stay as you quarantine in an isolated room, they may check with the front desk for availability and a rate. Alternatively, your family will be permitted to fly if they can present a negative COVID-19 test result.

If I test positive, where can I quarantine? Do I have to pay to extend my stay?

Answer

If you test positive you may quarantine at the hotel. For guests who test positive for COVID-19, the hotel will cover up to 14 nights at no cost to you.

What if I have received a COVID-19 vaccine?

Answer

All air passengers traveling to the US, regardless of vaccination status, are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery.

What if I recently recovered from COVID-19?

Answer

For guests returning to the United States, the CDC does not recommend getting tested again in the three months after a positive viral test, as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have had a positive viral test in the past 3 months, and you have met the criteria to end isolation, you may travel instead with documentation of your positive viral test results and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel. The positive test result and letter together are referred to as “documentation of recovery.”

If I am staying less than 3 nights at the hotel how much will it cost me to take the rapid test on property?

Answer

For stays booked that are less than 3 nights, guests can purchase the antigen test for $50. We suggest you verify with your airlines to see if you qualify to take a test before departure in the US and then use that test when departing Mexico as long as it fits within the 72-hour timeframe mandated.
