On the morning of June 3rd—Jake’s birthday—the two lovebirds packed up from their dreamy castle stay in Claregalway, Ireland, and hit the road at exactly 6:20 a.m. In just a couple of hours something extraordinary was awaiting for Chantel… After what felt like hitting nearly every brick, bump, and backroad Ireland had to offer, they finally arrived at their destination: the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher. The skies were gray, rain lightly falling, and the winds gusty—an atmosphere that only heightened Jake’s nerves. Battling against the chill, they walked hand in hand past the farm lands and a few cute curious goats, making their way toward the edge of the cliffs. Just before reaching the spot, Jake—trying to stall while waiting for the photographer to appear—pointed out into the distance, directing Chantel to “look around.” Of course, he was pointing at absolutely nothing. Chantel’s tingly senses were kicking in, she knew something was about to happen. In her nervous excitement, she blurted out, “Look at that thing in the water!” (For the record, it may have been cardboard.) At that perfect moment, Jake slipped behind her, dropped down to one knee, and revealed the ring. Chantel spun around, her face lighting up with a smile from ear to ear, the cheesiest grin Jake had ever seen. She jumped with joy as Jake, battling the wind, somehow managed to get the ring on her finger before it blew straight into the Atlantic. Till this day, neither quite remembers what was said in those magical seconds - she has no recollection of the loving words he spoke to her nor does he have any idea if she said yes. It all blurred into a whirlwind of laughter, tears, kisses, and hugs. A spectacular moment they will cherish forever. (And yes, Jake may have shed a tear or two—shhh.) It was messy, magical, and utterly perfect—the beginning of forever. The newly engaged couple walked away from the cliffs overwhelmed with love, excitement, and the promise of a future together.
