A few people have been asking, so here it is. No, I didn’t see it coming. No, there are zero pictures. Just my memory doing its best… So, I decided way back after my very first cruise — before Mike and I were even a thing — that I wanted to get married on a ship. Fast forward to my recent Cali trip: I’m telling my aunt all about my master plan and how I’ve been dropping hints so obvious they might as well have been billboards. Mike and I had already talked about getting married, but nothing official had happened yet. Then we planned this big friends-and-family Thanksgiving cruise. And what does my aunt do? Calls me like, “Oh by the way, I told the whole family it’s a wedding cruise.” Meanwhile… Mike had not proposed. At all. So Mike comes downstairs, and I’m like, “Sooo… thoughts?” He makes this face and goes, “Welp, I guess we’re here now.” I cracked up and went right back to cooking like nothing happened. Then he hits me with, “So… are you ready to start forever?” I’m still laughing, turn around — and this man is on one knee with a box. I LOST it. We had literally just talked about waiting because he’d bought me a truck after my accident. But then he opened the box, and suddenly my laugh turned into a cry-laugh-cry situation. He hugged me like, “I don’t know what’s happening… is there a yes in there?” And I managed, “Both… and yes.” Then he put the ring on my finger like the smoothest plot twist ever. And listen… this ring? Not the one from our Pinterest board. Not the ones I sent him. It is SO much more. He really showed out.
