Denver International Airport

From the Denver International Airport to Crested Butte is around a 4 and a half hour drive. If you have never been to Colorado before, I suggest the drive as it lets you see a large portion of the state with breathtaking scenery. Being that it will be early fall, all passes should be open, but I would advise checking Monarch Pass and Cottonwood Pass depending on which way you go as sometimes they are closed for high winds. Fun fact: If you choose to go over Cottonwood Pass, you will go over the Continental Divide as well as have a high chance of seeing some local wildlife.

Montrose Regional Airport

****IMPORTANT UPDATE: Unfortunately, one of the bridges between Montrose and Crested Butte is under repair. There is a detour route open during certain times of the day (see below), but please check for updates as the below can change. You should plan on 3 to 3.5 hours for the drive. 6:30 to 7 a.m. for westbound travel beginning at CO 149 and CR 26 7:30 to 8 a.m. for eastbound travel beginning at US 50 and CR 26 Noon to 12:30 p.m. for westbound travel beginning at CO 149 and CR 26 1 to 1:30 p.m. for eastbound travel beginning at US 50 and CR 26 6:30 to 7 p.m. for westbound travel beginning at CO 149 and CR 26 7:30 to 8 p.m. for eastbound travel beginning at US 50 and CR 26 8:30 to 9 p.m. for westbound travel beginning at CO 149 and CR 26 9:30 to 10 p.m. for eastbound travel beginning at US 50 and CR 26 No other public travel will be allowed on CR 26 outside of the times listed above. Travelers should continue to plan for pilot vehicles and an unpaved road service. CR 26 is a high-mountain, native surface road that is not built to sustain existing US 50 traffic levels. A hotline and email address are available to assist customers with questions about the local access route and US 50 bridge closure. Anyone with questions can reach out via 970-648-4423. Due to these unforeseen circumstances we highly recommend that you do not fly into the Montrose Airport.

The drive from Gunnison/Crested Butte Regional airport to Crested Butte is around 35 minutes. It is the smallest of the 3 airports, so flights and rental car options are limited.

Shuttle

In addition to the bus, there are two shuttles, Dolly's Mountain Shuttle and Alpine Express, running from Gunnison to Crested Butte. Reservations are required in advance.
