How We Met

Through a really special mutual friend. Channing had just transitioned seasons from being a business owner to joining the car business. This said friend had actually provided an opportunity for her to start selling cars. It was only by a leap of faith & a tug on her heart that the Lord wanted her to step through that door even though it wasn’t something she understood at the time. Ironically enough, after a couple of months selling cars, that same friend brought Clay over to fill a role in another department very close to her. And that’s how they met! *Side note: As Clay started pursuing Channing, there were some silent prayers of concern working together while also trying to discern God’s will for their future relationship. Low and behold, within a week of these silent conversations, that same mutual friend mysteriously moved Clay directly across the street to a different dealership (their friend has a really good sense of humor)! So, be sure to thank Him at their wedding; He’ll be watching from above & speaking through their family at their ceremony! They’re pretty confident you might know who He is; He’s actually The Creator of you, too.

The Proposal

*If you know their story, you know their wasn’t a single soul in Channing’s work environment that knew who she was dating for almost two years.* Clay had her colleagues help convince her she was going to Beverly Hills for a work training (they had no idea it was him orchestrating everything; he bought another phone & used a different number to communicate). When she arrived at the restaurant for her “initiation lunch” on Rodeo Drive, one of her really good friends (Morgan) was sitting at the table with a gift from Clay. The following 48 hours were filled with constant surprises; shopping, posh restaurants, and spa pampering galore. The night of the proposal, he had glam show up to Channing’s room to get her pampered for the big night. The time came for her to leave, and there was a Rolls-Royce & camera man waiting to carry her off in the night (the Rolls-Royce driver was actually Morgan’s husband Andrew; another sweet surprise)! Clay had rented a mansion at the top of Hollywood Hills. When Channing entered the home, Clay was playing the song that you’ll be hearing when she walks down the aisle, “Till I Found You” by Phil Whickam. She made her way up to the third story balcony, and there he was on one knee. The rest is history!
