Things To Do

San Diego has a little bit of everything: beach towns, breweries, sunsets, coffee shops, and neighborhoods that all feel completely different from each other. Explore Carlsbad village for walkable beach-town vibes, coffee shops, and breweries. Emily grew up vacationing here with her maternal grandparents and family, making it a place especially close to her heart. Del Mar's also extra special to us because it’s where Channing proposed during a sunset picnic. Grab gelato from An's Hatmakers and toast to sunset at Monarch Ocean Pub. Nearby, Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and the Torrey Pines Gliderport have incredible ocean views, coastal trails, and paragliders soaring over the cliffs at sunset. For breweries, coffee shops, thrifting, and nightlife, head to North Park and stop by The Lafayette Hotel & Club for cocktails and cool architecture. Spend time biking the boardwalk in Mission Beach, and don’t miss Balboa Park for gardens, museums, the zoo, and Spanish-style architecture.
Torrey Pines Gliderport

Torrey Pines Gliderport

2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, San Diego, CA 92037

Even if you don’t plan to paraglide yourself, it’s worth stopping for the views alone. Grab a drink or casual food and watch the gliders take off at sunset. Just a heads up: the Gliderport only has porta potties, so plan accordingly.

San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

Located inside Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo is one of the most well-known zoos in the world and honestly worth visiting even as adults. It’s huge, beautifully designed, and easy to spend an entire day exploring. Wear comfortable shoes because there’s a lot of walking and hills, and try to go earlier in the day if possible since weekends can get crowded. Tickets can be a little pricey, but they include the guided bus tour through the zoo along with the Skyfari aerial tram, which gives really cool views of the park from above.

Children's Pool La Jolla

834 Coast South Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92037

Visit La Jolla's famous seals and sea lions, explore the shops and restaurants of La Jolla Village, stroll along the scenic coastline, kayak or snorkel at La Jolla Cove, and enjoy some of San Diego's most beautiful ocean views.
