How We Met

This is History in the Making

You're probably wondering how Chanise-from-the-Block (Castle Hill-to-be-exact) ends up with Andre-from-Harlem World (144th Street and Riverside Drive-to-be-exact). Was it love, at first sight, your wondering? Not exactly. Our fairytale was a barely-tale because we almost never happened. Their story started with Chanise trying to use an underutilized gym membership and Maureen, Andre's client, focusing on something other than their training session. Chanise and Andre had walked past each other at the gym a million times and never noticed each other–that is, until one day when Maureen pointed out a girl to Andre that she thought he'd look cute with. That cute girl was Chanise, leisurely crossing their training session at that very moment, not realizing that her future husband had taken notice of her for the first time–a vision in spandex, he thought. Andre considered her cuteness and thought, maybe I can get her to unfollow Kanye's Workout Plan and follow "Body-by-Dre." Over several months, Andre meticulously masterminded a plan to win Chanise's affection over numerous personal training sessions (which she usually complained throughout). It took multiple lunch dates and happy hour meet-ups–more than she's ever had in her life (and more than he's willing to admit to) before he finally won her heart. Chanise fell for his drive & determination, smoldering smiles framed by the prettiest brown eyes, optimistic outlook, and that Harlem swag of course. His Popeye arms weren't too hard to get used to either. "The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind I was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along." -- Rumi

The Proposal

6-15-19

Andre took Chanise to Maestros for a belated birthday dinner–one of their favorite restaurants. Towards the end of dinner, waiters walked a "birthday cake" over to their table. The waiters sang the "Happy Birthday" song, but when placing the cake on their table, instead of the plate reading "Happy Birthday" etched in chocolate, it spelled out "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" revealing the real reason behind the dinner. Andre got down on bended knee, presented Chanise with a ring, and recited a heartfelt speech explaining the reasons he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. After asking Chanise to marry him–She replied, "OF COURSE," and they were engaged. One More Thing ... That wasn't the only surprise Andre planned for that night. After dinner, Andre told Chanise that he had arranged for a celebration for two at a lounge not too far from the restaurant. Upon their arrival at a rooftop lounge overlooking the Empire State Building, their intimate celebration proved to be yet another coverup. As they turned the corner into their private seating area, they were excitedly greeted by numerous friends and family, there to celebrate with the newly betrothed coupled. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in the Dominican Republic!
