Things To Do

We can’t wait to welcome you to Bizkaia, home of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve! Below are some of our favorite activities and places to explore in the area during your stay. If you would like additional recommendations text the bride and groom.
Playa de Laga

Playa de Laga

48311 Ibarrangelu, Vizcaya, PV 48311, Spain

A beautiful nearby beach perfect for swimming and learning how to surf. Equipment rentals are available, and for those who are new to surfing--there are also lessons offered by local instructors.

Playa de Laida

Playa de Laida

Vizcaya, Spain

Just up the road from Laga Beach is Laida Beach, a truly unique spot where the tide shifts dramatically throughout the day. At low tide, you can walk far out across the sand into what feels like the middle of the ocean. Be sure to keep an eye on the time, as the tide comes in quickly and it’s important to make your way back to shore before it rises. This beach has kids friendly swimming and a few restaurants on site.

El Bosque de Oma

El Bosque de Oma

48315 Kortezubi, Bizkaia, Spain

Bosque de Oma is a magical painted forest in the Urdaibai area, where trees become part of a living artwork created by artist Agustín Ibarrola. As you walk through the woodland, the painted patterns reveal different shapes and perspectives depending on where you stand. It’s a unique blend of nature and art, perfect for a peaceful walk and a bit of discovery. There is about a 2 mile walk to get to the paintings it is a fun activity for the whole family! *Remember to bring water!

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

Gibelorratzagako San Pelaio Auzoa, 80, Bizkaia 48130, Spain

For all Game of Throne fans, just a short 40 min away you can visit San Juan de Gaztelugatxe where filming took place. Becasue it´s rise in fame, we recommend getting tickets to guarantee entry. There are steps to climbs so would not reccomend if you have trouble walking.

Bilbao

Bilbao

Bilbao has so much to offer: visit the iconic Guggenheim Museum, catch a glimpse of San Mamés stadium, stroll through the Casco Viejo for pintxos and shopping, or enjoy a meal at the Guggenheim's restaurant overlooking the river. Free walking tours are also available if you'd like to explore the city in more depth.
