It all began during Chaney’s freshman year and Brandon’s sophomore year at Abilene Christian University when fate (and their professor) brought them together in an Intro to Marketing class. As luck would have it, they were randomly assigned to the same group for a project. Ironically, the day they first met was Squig’s Sound of Silence day for Chaney—a tradition in Chaney's sorority where she was supposed to stay quiet. But that didn’t stop her from striking up a conversation with Brandon White! Over the next few weeks, their group meetings became more than just project discussions, and Brandon saw something special in Chaney. Wanting to spend more time together, Brandon asked Chaney to Galaxy formal. She was intrigued but hesitant to invite him to her own formal without hanging out first. So, she took the initiative and suggested a casual first date—an iconic Sonic trip in March of 2022. That simple outing sparked something undeniable, and from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable ever since!
