After graduating from Louisiana State University I could not find a job in my field so I started working at Pappadeaux. A year later our paths crossed. Wes graduated from Lamar University, and could not find a job in his field either. He then began working at Pappadeaux to pay off his student loans. In the beginning, I only saw him in passing so we didn't speak much. Until one day after a long day of work a group of co-workers went for happy hour. Immediately we hit it off with uncontrollable laughter. We had several things in common like we grew up in the same church, our favorite basketball team The Lakers, our admiration for Kobe Bryant, both our goal driven, and love for travel. Initially I friend zoned him. I guess he wasn't feeling that so he began to make it clear he did not want to be friend zoned. After months of persistence I thought, "Man he won't give up, maybe I should give him a chance." I gave in and we started going on dates. It was instant chemistry! He even would drive an hour from Magnolia to Cypress just to come workout at the gym with me before going to work. I was newly single and the happiest I had ever been in a while. I started to fall for him quickly. It was not long before we were expecting! Our beautiful baby girl Winter, was truly a blessing to our family and quickly propelled our relationship to the next level. The rest is history....
It was the day of my 30th birthday party. While thanking my family and friends for attending Wesley grabbed the mic and proceeded to get down on one knee. I was in shock as tears rushed down my face. He asked me to marry him. Of course I screamed, "YES" and bent down to give him a kiss before he could even put the ring on my finger. I wanted the kiss to last forever. I told him I loved him and jumped up with excitement! The song "The Matrimony" came on, we hugged and danced the night away. We were engaged!
