When true love comes together nothing can stand in its way🖤

We met in the Fall of 2017 while I was driving by the local car wash. I don't know what made me stop at this car wash after passing it several times over the summer, but this one particular day I drove in to support a local black owned business. As I sat in my car waiting for the attendant to come over to ask what I needed out walked this man whom literally took my breath away. For a second I thought to myself what the heck is this man doing washing cars? All I could think of was wow he doesn't belong here and I thought he was the hired help. After my requested service he washed my car inside and out by himself which I was impressed by since the inside of my car was a mess. As I went to hand him the tip for a good service he rejected my money and began to tell me he's a co-owner which of course made my mouth drop because I judged him before knowing him. Two weeks passed and we than exchanged numbers so he could confirm my appointment to have my car compound; which of course was his tactic to only get my number. After that we grew closer between texts and calls not realizing we were spending so much time together. It wasn't until my birthday in February when I looked over to him and he asked what would our lives be like without each other and I said I didn't know. As we fast forward, while sitting at Blockheads for our monthly lunch date he looked over at me and asked me again where would our lives be without each other and my reply was "I hope we never have to see that day come true". As I was about to order he reached in his pocket and placed a box on the table while watching my mouth drop and my eyes get teary he asked "Would I make him the happiest man alive and be his wife?" From that moment I said yes and became happier than I could've ever imagined. Its easy to say I fell in love with someone whom I never would've met had I not decided to get my car washed. They say God makes someone specially designed for each person...

As a young girl I always imagined having that fairytale proposal followed by that fairytale wedding. However, things don’t always go according to plan as we all know. Just when I would’ve thought his proposal would be traditional, something romantic or even away on a sailboat it surely wasn’t even close to that at all... As we were driving along Amsterdam Avenue by Columbia University William had looked over to me and asked how would I wish for him to propose? Of course I said on one knee very sweet of course, but he laughed and said you know this isn’t the 70’s or 80’s right Nel.... Although, I had no idea where all of this was coming from I continued to drive of course with an attitude because I felt like he didn’t take me serious at all... So as planned we went to Blockheads Mexican Restaurant which was our normal routine every month and as we ordered our beverages and food he looks over to me and said “Do you know how beautiful you are?” Still upset with him I ignored him completely and as he turned my chair to face his he pulled out a black box and said “Will you marry me?” Of course, my answer was yes and not only did I get the man, but I also got my BEST FRIEND🖤🖤
