Mitchell and Chanel do not remember the first day they met BUT what they do remember is the day they were both crowned Mr. & Miss Kuamka at the University of Cincinnati. Each put countless hours into winning these titles to represent and serve their communities but little did they know, they would benefit even greater! They became great friends during their reign and when their time was almost over as Mr. and Miss Kuamka, Chanel, one night, sent a text to Mitchell asking, "Will we still be friends after all of this is over?". She was serious but Mitchell just did his little chuckle and said "of course!" To be honest, Chanel didn't believe him. He kept his word and through the next couple of months they continued their friendship. The moment they both knew this was something more was when he left for a month-long study abroad trip to South America for what felt like forever. Through the trip they would text and talk regularly and when he returned...the rest was history.

Before they were engaged, Mitchell and Chanel had been in a long distance relationship for two years! They would see each other every month or two but communicated most frequently over the phone. On this particular occasion, Mitchell decided to go home for Easter. Chanel was pretty set on not going home until her parents offered to pay for a flight to spend the holiday with them. Now this was VERY unusual but she just thought "Wow, my parents really miss me!". She sent a text to Mitchell and said that she was coming home after all. Little did she know that this was all part of a larger plan. On the weekend of Easter 2019, Chanel arrived to Columbus for a typical brunch date with her closest friends from college which was followed by a surprise scavenger hunt including some surprise guests and loved ones for the proposal of a lifetime!
