Sydney was working at Bunayan's Bar & Grill where Chandler had come in a few times for lunch while he was at work with his dad and brother. Chandler and Sydney had both expressed interest in the other. One day when Chandler was working on one of Sydney's co-workers decks, her co-worker asked Chandler if there was anything going on between him and Sydney. She asked because whenever they come in to Bunayn's "Sydney gets all giddy." Shortly after that Chandler asked Sydney to go out for drinks some night in Vermillion, Sydney gave him her number.

After getting Sydney's number, Chandler decided to wait a week to text her. During this time, Sydney was spiraling, freaking out that she had given him the wrong number. One day in October of 2022, Chandler finally texted Sydney, and they went on their first date at the Old Lumbar Company in Vermillion.

On their first date, Chandler and Sydney spent the whole night talking. They talked, and talked, and the drinks kept flowing just as easily as the conversation. When they checked the time, it was way past Chandler's bedtime so they called it a night. But this wasn't going to be the last, their story was just beginning!

One Monday afternoon, (October 7th 2024) Chandler texted Sydney while they were both at work. He asked if she would want to go on a walk that night. Sydney thought this was a bit odd considering Chandler never asks to go on walks... In the nearly two years of them being together, and all of the talk of going on walks, they had yet to go on one. Sydney excitedly agreed to go on a walk. Sydney got home a little later than normal from work that night, but still wanted to go for that walk! Chandler came out to Sydney's car with Tillie (their puppy) to head to the lake to go on a sunset walk. They got to the lake and Chandler said he wanted to walk on the shoreline, so they walked the shoreline. While walking, Chandler and Sydney were laughing at their crazy dog Tillie who was having the time of her life, and they stopped walking. Chandler got down on one knee and asked Sydney to marry him! Two seconds after ecstatically saying yes, Sydney looked at Tillie who had now gotten two sand burs stuck in her fur, bringing them back to reality.

We chose an October wedding because we had our first date in October, we got engaged in October, and we are so excited to add another relationship milestone to the month of October!! (Sydney has also always wanted a fall wedding -- sorry not sorry to all you farmers) Chandler and Sydney are beyond excited to start this new journey together, and continue their love story! We are so happy and in love with our story, and we cannot wait to continue to make new stories and memories as a married couple! We cannot wait to celebrate our love with the people we love and cherish!
