How We Met

We met at church while both living in NYC. Chandler had recently started volunteering to help on the church's Host team, and Collier was assigned to train and onboard her for her first day. Despite Collier telling her what to do the whole time they were together, Chandler had no idea Collier was a Host Team leader and just thought he was being nice. They bonded over both being from Oklahoma and had a paperwork mishap when they realized they both had the same initials, CH. Although she didn't stay on his team for long, their friendship started here and grew as they went to church each weekend. Collier was impressed by Chandler's businesses and entrepreneurial side, and asked her to be an accountability buddy so he would make time to launch his own company. They called it "Startup Tuesdays" and would meet every Tuesday night at each other's apartments. Between their friend group, Sundays, and Tuesdays, they spent many months as good friends. Collier saw that one of his favorite small bands was coming to NYC on a Tuesday night, and took the opportunity to invite Chandler so he wouldn't need to cancel on her for Startup Tuesday. Chandler told her roommates about their plans, and they convinced her it was a date because he bought the tickets. Chandler showed up nervous for the evening, trying to read Collier for any signs of flirting and figure out if she liked him more than a friend. Towards the end of the concert, she took a leap of faith and kissed him. And the rest is history!

Pandemic & Long Distance

During 2020, New York was a difficult place to be. It became increasingly difficult for Chandler to do design work in clients' homes with pandemic restrictions, so she let her apartment lease go and moved to Oklahoma City with her family. Collier was still in NYC in an 800-square-foot apartment with his two friends. A new job kept him local in New York, so they began long distance. They traveled when possible and Collier came back to Oklahoma when he could. The time in Oklahoma ended up being one of the big blessings of this time, as Chandler and Collier got to spend a lot of time with each other's families. This uninterrupted family time in adult life is often not possible, and getting to know each other's families and cherish that time together was very special. Zoom movie dates and Facetime were routine in their schedules until they decided they needed to be back in the same city.

Question

Moving to Austin

Answer

Collier and Chandler moved to Austin in 2021 as the next big step in their relationship. They both loved NYC and their time there so much, but were both excited for more square footage and a slower pace of life. Collier brought his childhood dog Swag and eventually, they also got another dog, Dolly. Our little family was born and it's been so special and amazing getting to build a life here together. We are excited to welcome everyone to Austin in November.
