How He Proposed The 4th of July weekend started with the sweetest surprise — my sisters and my aunt showed up to spend the holiday with us! I joked, “If you guys can keep this secret so well, my engagement secret is in the bag!” We spent the morning picnicking by the lake, soaking up the sun, listening to our favorite country songs, and just enjoying the perfect day together. Later, Chandler and I got ready for what I thought were “family photos” downtown by the lake. He was calm and romantic all day, and I had absolutely no idea what was coming. When we stopped by a beautiful waterfall near a police memorial, my family asked us to pose for a picture. I almost ruined the moment by walking away to find a “better spot,” but thankfully they got me to turn back around. As we stood smiling, Chandler turned to me and said, “I have to ask you a question.” Then he got down on one knee! Through tears, I heard him say my full name before he nervously forgot to actually ask — so I laughed and said, “You have to ask me!” He finally did, and of course, I said yes! Afterward, we celebrated with our families, champagne, sparklers, and fireworks — the most magical ending to the best day ever. My ring is absolutely perfect, and Chandler still says he decided to “wing it” because he just knew it was meant for me. We’re so excited to start this next chapter surrounded by all of our favorite people.
